More than 500 business and sports industry leaders joined the national nonprofit Good Sports for its 13th Annual Legends of the Ball fundraiser on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the InterContinental Hotel Boston. Local media personality Jenny Johnson served as the event’s emcee, which raised a record-breaking $500,000 for the organization. Other notable guests included Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and his wife Lauren, Boston Bruins Goalie, Tuukka Rask, and Philadelphia Eagles Linebacker, Connor Barwin, who was recognized as this year’s Good Sport in Sports.
Guests enjoyed an evening of food, drinks, music and dancing and a plethora of unique live and silent auction items all in support of getting more kids in the game. Two live auction items called “Fly High with the Pats” and “Street Hockey with Tuukka Rask” did particularly well, raising significant funds for the organization. The first includes two premium tickets to a Patriots away game with travel to the game on one of the team’s planes and sold for $16,000. The Tuukka Rask Street Hockey Game brings the Bruins goalie to the home of the winner and gives the neighborhood kids the chance to challenge the goalie in a game of street hockey. This item was the most sought after live item and sold for $26,000. This event was made possible by a number of dedicated sponsors including presenting sponsor, Bain Capital Community Partnership and MVP sponsors Berkshire Partners, The TD Garden and Boston Bruins Foundation.
