Who We Are

At SportsandSocialChange.org we see sports as a dynamic platform to unite a broad range of audiences and focus their time, energy and resources to address critical social issues. This site offers a comprehensive guide to nonprofits, foundations, NGOs and philanthropic organizations around the world that are affiliated with the teams, athletes and personnel of the amateur and professional sports community and utilize sports as the primary vehicle to empower change.

Our mission is to provide access to information, resources and opportunities for those seeking connections with social change and cause-related organizations in the global sports community. SportsandSocialChange.org is committed to providing the sports industry with socially responsible business solutions that positively impact the planet, the sports community and the bottom line. We work with sports industry leaders to utilize their organizations’ resources in support of social change programs, and we encourage charitable giving and volunteer participation from sports fans around the world.

If we all team up, everyone wins.

Our message to Sports Industry professionals

"Having the capacity to lead is not enough. The leader must be willing to use it."
~ Vince Lombardi

The sports world and the business community are filled with stories of great leadership, overcoming tremendous obstacles and dire circumstances to deliver victory and receive the highest of accolades. Great leaders command respect, admiration and inspire a willingness to accept any and all challenges.

As the driving force behind the both financial and media infrastructure of this industry, we seek your participation to help advance the many cause-driven and nonprofit programs within the global sports community. While we fully understand and appreciate the need for a competitive, profit-driven environment as it relates to running a successful business, we also know supporting those in-need can offer rewards that surpass any financial gain.

Although there is much debate over how companies should act as members of the communities they operate in and serve, we feel that in this industry, supporting nonprofit programs and organizations can have a lasting impact for all involved. Corporate Social Responsibility and Cause Marketing should not be viewed as industry catch phrases or the means to simply generate quick, “feel-good” PR, but the opportunity to support the greater good and the causes your stakeholders and your customers care about - which positively impacts your bottom line.

Our message to Sports Nonprofit Organizations

"People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society." ~ Vince Lombardi

As many nonprofit organizations know, success isn’t always as clear-cut as crossing the finish line first or racking up points. Numbers alone do not always impact the social good – people are what make the difference. Understanding how to communicate and with whom is vital to spreading awareness, impacting thought and influencing change and action.

We’ve learned from a wide range of organizations - from large, international programs to local community-based groups - that your greatest challenges are found in creating awareness, raising funds and running impactful programs. The goal of this site is to provide useful resources, information and tools to assist you in making valuable connections within the global sports community to help meet these challenges.

We encourage you to also connect with similar organizations in your community, your area of emphasis or your chosen sports discipline, to learn from, support and partner with one another. While it may be a worn out sports cliché to some, we still believe that TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More.

All we ask in return is your active participation in the evolution of SportsandSocialChange.org and a commitment from each of you to run an efficient, ethical and honest organization to serve the “greater good."

Our message to Sports Fans

"Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." ~ Vince Lombardi

Whether it’s a favorite sport, team or athlete, there is a unique connection between fans that can bridge differences in age, language, culture and ideology. The pride, passion, dedication and support that sports fans willingly embrace, can have a tremendous impact if channeled towards the social good – a good that emboldens a sense of community, where people team up to support and rally around each other, for a greater win than just our own.

If you’re a sports fan with a passion for a particular sport you play, a favorite team you follow, or an athlete you admire, we encourage you to use the information found on SportsandSocialChange.org to connect with the many causes each one supports.

Whatever you can do to help - volunteer to assist with community programs or at an event, donate sports equipment, facilities or even your professional skills, or certainly through financial means - your efforts are much needed and greatly appreciated.

And remember, when you make the effort, everybody wins.
