Meals to be donated to two local Texas food banks for every Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio and Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas registration made by Thanksgiving; New Limited Edition Medal revealed for racing in both San Antonio and Dallas events

SAN ANTONIO – November 5, 2015 – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is getting into the season of giving by donating meals for every race registration made between now and Thanksgiving for its Texas races—Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon (December 5-6, 2015) and Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon (March 19-20, 2016). Meals will be donated to the San Antonio Food Bank and North Texas Food Bank, depending on the registered event.

All distances will count and the number of meals donated will correlate with the accumulated mileage of all registrants. Participants who register for Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio’s marathon will have 26 meals donated on their behalf to the San Antonio Food Bank; 13 meals will be donated for half-marathon registrations, 10 meals for the 10K and 5 meals for the 5K.

Similarly, 13 meals or 5 meals will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank for Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon or 5K registrations.

Also new this year is the addition of the “Lonestar Legend” medal, which is awarded to those who participate in both the 2015 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and the 2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon. The Texas-sized medal is part of “Limited Edition” medal collection, which are earned by completing a specific combination of qualifying Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events.

“We are ready to rock in Texas this winter and spring and we hope everyone gets into the giving spirit by committing their miles for meals for those in need this month,” said Megan Miller, Event Manager. “The Miles for Meals campaign is a fun way to give back and get the community involved in both races. We are also thrilled to launch the new Lonestar Legend medal for participating in both the San Antonio and Dallas events.”

The 8th annual Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon will return the weekend of December 5 – 6, 2015 with a 10K on Saturday and a marathon, half-marathon, two-person relay and 5K on Sunday. Third Eye Blind will headline the finish line festival concert.

The 7th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon will take place the weekend of March 18 – 20, 2016 with a 5K on Saturday and half-marathon on Sunday. The fast and scenic course will give runners a first class tour of Dallas.

Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” in each city by running on both days of race weekend to earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each distance’s finisher medals.

In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, local bands will play through the streets of San Antonio and Dallas, along with spectators and high school cheer teams lining the route to motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing, participants are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the finish line festival and post-race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series.
